The Theatre

When the idea of constructing the Theatre was suggested, every effort was made to supply a building in keeping with the progress of South Shields, and to compare favourably with the leading cities and towns in the provinces. This result has been achieved, and although during the past few years huge combines have endeavoured to eclipse the architecture and splendour by erecting super cinemas, the "Queen's" Theatre has been adjudged by Building Experts and Proprietors of Theatres from all parts of the British Isles to stand alongside the finest and most up-to-date theatres in London and the Provinces.
